CitationSniper — Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the CitationSniper Chrome extension and related services ("the Service"), operated by CitationSniper ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of service

CitationSniper is a browser extension that helps users find academic citations supporting text they select on webpages or PDFs, using AI-assisted analysis and public academic search APIs.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

3. Plans and billing

Free plan: 10 citation searches per day, with limited results and features as described in the extension.
Pro Monthly: ₵120/month, billed manually each month. Pro Monthly does not auto-renew — you must return to the extension and pay again to extend access. Access continues until the end of the period you've paid for.
Pro Lifetime: ₵700, a single one-time payment for permanent Pro access. Lifetime purchases do not renew and cannot be cancelled.
All payments are processed by Paystack. We do not store your card or mobile money details.
Prices are listed in Ghanaian Cedis (GHS) and may change for future purchases; existing paid access is honored at the rate you paid.

4. Refunds

Payments are generally non-refundable once Pro access has been activated. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at the email below within 7 days of the charge.

5. Cancellation

Pro Monthly does not auto-renew — each month requires a new manual payment. "Cancelling" simply marks your account as not intending to renew; it has no effect on payment and never triggers a refund. You keep full Pro access until your current paid period ends, after which your account reverts to the Free plan unless you pay again. You may pay again at any time, including after cancelling, to restore or extend Pro access. Pro Lifetime cannot be cancelled, as it is a single, non-recurring purchase with no ongoing billing to stop.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to violate any law or third party's rights;
Attempt to circumvent usage limits, quotas, or payment requirements;
Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service's underlying APIs;
Use automated means to submit excessive requests to the Service.

7. AI-generated content and accuracy disclaimer

CitationSniper uses AI to analyze claims and rank citation relevance. While we aim for accuracy, AI-generated analysis (including claim classification, confidence scores, and relevance ranking) may contain errors. Citations returned by the Service are sourced from third-party academic databases we do not control and cannot guarantee are complete, current, or error-free. You are responsible for independently verifying any citation or claim before relying on it academically or professionally.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on Supabase, Groq, Paystack, and academic search providers (Semantic Scholar, CrossRef, OpenAlex, Europe PMC, CORE). We are not responsible for outages, errors, or data practices of these third parties beyond our control.

9. Intellectual property

The CitationSniper name, design, and code are owned by us. Citation data returned by the Service belongs to its original academic sources and publishers — CitationSniper does not claim ownership of any research paper or citation metadata.

10. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on inaccurate citations or AI analysis.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
